DALLAS (KRLD) - A dog in Tarrant County - has been infected with coronavirus -- and is the first confirmed case in the state.
According to the Texas Animal Health Commission, a vet decided to test the dog as a precaution after its owners tested positive for COVID-19. The vet says the two-year-old dog is healthy.
State Veterinarian Dr. Andy Schwartz says there is no evidence pets play a significant role in spreading the virus but says it's important people who have coronavirus limit contact with their pets.
