NORTH TEXAS (1080 KRLD)- Amazon is hiring for 100,000 new jobs nation wide as the company responds to a surge in demand for on-line shopping.

The company is looking to fill 6,500 new jobs in the north Texas area.


The positions including packing customer orders, shipping and logistics. The minimum starting wage will be $15 per hour.

"We are opening 100 buildings this month alone across new fulfillment and sortation centers, delivery stations, and air hubs," said Dave Clark, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations at Amazon. 

Amazon already has six fulfillment centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The company has also announced plans for new delivery stations in Fort Worth, Frisco and Forney.
