DALLAS (KRLD) - American Airlines pilots want the carrier to stop its service to China.
The Allied Pilots Association, and its 15,000 pilots, have filed a lawsuit in Dallas citing "serious, and in many ways still unknown, health threats posed by the coronavirus." They want a court to give them temporary and immediate restraining order halting the flights as the virus spreads.
The union's president is directing his members to reject assignments to fly to China, and for those there to leave the country as soon as they can.
American says they are aware of the suit and are taking all necessary "precautions for our customers and team members."
The airline has announced plans to suspend flights between Los Angeles and China beginning Feb. 9. It also flies to China from Dallas-Fort Worth.
