A panel appointed by the City of Fort Worth is out with a series of recommendations to improve police interactions.
The panel has been sharing observations and recommendations with the Fort Worth Police Department as they're identified, so that the department can get a head start in implementing them rather than waiting for an interim report to be prepared.
Some of those changes include implementing a final phase of an early warning system that would identify officers who may be at risk for misconduct, as well as expanding a Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team.
The panel also recommended additions to the department's Use of Force Policy and General Orders to enhance accountability and to further de-escalation.
Police Chief Ed Kraus will provide additional details at the city's next Work Session tomorrow afternoon.
