FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- Thanks to COVID-19, organizers of the Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show were forced to get creative this year.

On Monday, Alliance Air Productions announced the 30th anniversary event will be the first drive-in air show experience held in North Texas.

Christina Carey, director of special projects for Alliance Air Productions, told KRLD their plan is to offer about 2,000 parking tickets for purchase on a first-come basis in mid-September at AllianceAirShow.com.  Under the unique arrangement, social distancing standards and additional protocols will be in place.  Each ticketholder will have access to two parking spaces, one for their vehicle and the other for guests to picnic and enjoy the air show safely.

Carey said their plans are subject to change.  As it stands, the Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, is scheduled for Oct. 17-18.

Carey talked about this year's event with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
