ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - Arlington will join other cities in offering "drive-thru" testing for COVID-19. The city will begin offering the testing Friday for Tarrant County residents.
Residents must meet eligibility criteria and register with the city online or by phone. People can register at arlingtontx.gov/coronavirus or by calling (817) 459-6029.
The tests are free and available for anyone 18 and older who is showing symptoms of COVID-19, which include a fever over 99.6 and a cough or shortness of breath.
People must also have a chronic health condition, be over 65 years old or be employed as a healthcare or "essential" worker.
Arlington says the test is similar to a nasal swab for the flu. Patients will show their identification through their rolled up car window.
Anyone who tests positive will receive a phone call from the Arlington Fire Department with instructions.
