RIVER OAKS (1080 KRLD) - The Texas Department of Public Safety issued an Amber Alert Wednesday morning for an infant girl from River Oaks, northwest of Fort Worth. They say the girl was abducted from a home about 2:30 a.m.
Mia Negrete is four months old. River Oaks police say two suspects with some kind of family relationship kidnapped the girl from her guardian.
They say DPS and Fort Worth police joined the search, tracking the girl to Burleson. She was found safe and is now in custody of Child Protective Services.
"It was just detective work," says River Oaks Police Chief Christopher Spieldenner. "They had an idea of who the abductors were, the people who took the baby, and they just started running plates and backtracking where they were. They were able to triangulate the location where they found them."
Police were looking for Summer Brook Davidson, 19, and Gemma Krystal Flores, 24. Spieldenner says the two had a family relationship with the girl.
He says Negrete had been removed from her primary caregiver and was placed with a relative. Spieldenner says the suspects appear to have gone to that home in River Oaks to take Negrete back, then investigators tracked the group to Burleson.
"It is invaluable to us and to all the other agencies, the cooperation we have here in Tarrant County is second to none," he says.
Wednesday morning, he says police were still questioning everyone involved. The Amber Alert was canceled about 5:30 a.m.
