MCKINNEY (1080 KRLD) - Collin County commissioners are setting aside millions of dollars to help people financially hurt by COVID-19.

Commissioners are calling the recovery plan "Collin Cares." The goal is to assist people affected by the pandemic by providing financial aid for housing, utilities and groceries.

Some families can collect up to $2,500 a month for 4 months, according to reports.

Money is also being set aside for PPE, food pantries and COVID-19 testing across Collin County.

Commissioners say they're planning to distribute more than $171 million in federal aid.
