DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The central piece of a Confederate memorial in downtown Dallas was removed this morning.
Workers began removing the statues around the main monument in Pioneer Park earlier this week.
Dallas City leaders voted last year to remove it. Then a lawsuit was filed, preventing the city from moving forward.
Earlier this month, an appeals court gave the city the green light.
It's expected to take about two months to remove all the pieces and take them to storage.
