ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - The construction company putting up Globe Life Field says last weekend's fire will have no impact on the construction timeline.
Greg McClure with Manhattan Construction says repair work on the roof is already underway.
"We've already torn off that part of the roof and have got temporary measures in place so that we don't have any leaks," says McClure.
The fire tore through a 2,000-square-foot section of the roof on Saturday.
"The roofer brought in another crew that doesn't affect these guys on the operable roof," McClure says. "We'll have the brand new roof put back in within a couple of weeks. By the first of the year, pretty much we'll have it ready to go."
The ballpark is now 89% complete and is still on track for completion in March.
McClure says Saturday's fire was a freak accident.
"We had some materials stored up there (in the roof area) in some containers," says McClure. "They caught fire, and (the fire) went up very fast."
Still, Manhattan Construction is working diligently to ensure that there is not a repeat incident.
"We pulled everybody back in on Monday just to have a re-teaching effort," he says.
