The American Airlines policy on refunds is leaving a North Texas couple frustrated after their vacation flights were canceled because of the Coronavirus.

The Halls  --  Connie and Dave  --  bought tickets in February, planning a trip to hike the Grand Canyon in April. But in March, the Coronavirus hit and the Halls knew their trip was a non-starter because of cascading stay-home orders and other restrictions.

Connie Hall tells NBC-5 they canceled their reservations -- just a week or so before American just flat out scrubbed the flight. But because the Halls were pro-active and canceled on their own, they feel they're being punished because -- rather than a refund, the airline is offering only vouchers for another flight.

American has extended the deadline for using the vouchers through the end of next year, giving the Halls about a year-and-a-half to book another trip. But the couple say that, with all the uncertainty these days, a cash refund of the nearly 800 dollars they paid would sure come in handy.
