His family is from Trinidad where Garland Democratic representative Rhetta Andrews Bowers says men don't cut their hair.
The Crown Act will "protect you and allow you the wherewithal to, as one of the representatives put it, to be able to rock your crown however you wish."
She says people shouldn't be kept from success because they want to wear their hair in a natural state. The bill would allow for natural hairstyles in both school districts and the workplace.
The CROWN act has been passed in California, New York, and New Jersey. "Really for diversity and inclusion, I don't think across the aisle any of my colleagues would vote against an anti-discrimination bill."
