Dallas County DA Looking At How Dallas Police Dealt With Protesters

The Dallas County District Attorney's office will look into the way police dealt with protesters earlier this year.

Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot says he's concerned about specific cases where police may have used excessive force during protests following the death of George Floyd, but he's also concerned about training and accountability for officers.

The Dallas Police Department has issued a statement saying it expected the DA's examination of the events in late May and early June, and it welcomes the investigation.

One specific incident has drawn extra attention. A photographer captured images of a woman who had been hit with a pepper ball.

Dallas Police say the officer in that case has been placed on restricted duty while their Public Integrity Unit investigates.
