DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Adriana Gallegos' 3 year old son got tested for COVID and got results in 2 days. One of her husband's colleagues, who is a Dallas Firefighter, had to wait TEN days for his COVID test results.
Wondering why first responders weren't getting rapid testing, Adriana reached out to the CEO of Virtual Care for Families via LinkedIn and explained the situation.
He responded and said they'd love to launch a partnership with the Dallas Hispanic Firefighters Association ("DHFA") so first responders could get rapid testing - SAME DAY results.
Virtual Care for families said they'd donate a rapid testing machine and test kits IF DHFA could staff it, which they agreed to. But they still needed a place to put the machine and begin testing.
Wilscot donated a mobile office and now members of the Dallas Hispanic Firefighters Association and their families are able to get rapid COVID testing with same-day results.
However, funds are still needed to continue the operation for as long as it's needed. DHFA hopes to raise enough money to be able to test all first responders in Dallas.
Funds can be donated at the DHFA website. https://dallashfa.com/
