The Dallas school board has decided to delay the start of school until September 8th.

For hours the board heard from teachers who not only wanted the start of school moved back, but wanted online only instruction implemented for at least through the end of 2020.

Tuesday, November 3, 2020, is added as a holiday.

The board explained that they can ask for an additional 4 weeks of online learning if they needed to, that would back up in-person on-campus learning to November 2.

The new calender eliminates the fall break and extends the school year until June 18th.

"The safety of our students, parents and staff is our top priority, and we are committed to taking every measure to keep everyone healthy throughout this unprecedented time" said a release from Dallas ISD following the meeting.
