Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson wants to lower the salaries of the city's top leaders in an effort to raise $6.5 million more for police.
Meanwhile Dallas County administrator Darryl Martin proposed $5 million worth of programs to County Commissioners to help the city with public safety.

It comes after the county administrator held meetings with activists and city managers on alternatives to traditional law enforcement. The money will promote mental health, substance abuse and eviction prevention programs to help keep people out of jail.
