Earlier this week, officials in Tarrant County and Denton County announced plans to remove Confederate monuments at their respective courthouses.

On Tuesday, HBO said it was removing the 1939 classic "Gone With the Wind" from its HBO Max streaming service, citing its "racist themes."  The network said it will add "historical context" to the film before it is reinstated.

NASCAR announced on Wednesday that Confederate flags would no longer be permitted at races or on any of its properties.

And students at Richland High School are demanding the banishment of their "Rebel" mascot, which has been part of the campus since 1961.

There has been talk of such moves in the past, but as the protests continue following the killing of George Floyd, it appears more of these symbols will be vanishing for good.

Are these snap judgments that merit more consideration, or, is it time?

KRLD's Chris Sommer discussed the issue with TCU history professor Dr. Max Krochmal.
