Americans in debt are feeling more optimistic about paying it off than ever before.
Nearly half of those with debt expect a debt free future within five years. It's based on a new study from CreditCards.com. Analyst Ted Rossman says, "Only 7% of U.S. adults with debt expect to die in debt. That's the lowest percentage in the seven years we've been conducting this study. It's a dramatic drop from the past two years. Last year, 25% of debtors thought they would die in debt. The year before it was 30%. "
He says people are feeling good about their finances now due to a strong job market and a strong stock market.
He says 70% percent of U.S. adults have at least one form of debt.
He says millennials have the lowest debt loads.
