MIAMI, FLA. (1080 KRLD) - A Florida man who bilked a North Texas school district out of more than $2 million is convicted by a federal jury.
Donald Howard Conkright, 63, of Key West spoofed an email address to make it appear to come from a construction contractor, tricking the Crowley ISD into sending the money into his personal bank account
The school district had planned on using that money to build a new elementary school.
Instead, that money was used to buy a $128,000 BMW, $70,000 worth of Rolex watches and 13,000 worth of merchandise at Apple stores.
Some of that money has since been recovered.
Conkright will be sentenced on May 11th.
