FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Former Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald is unhappy with Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price's recent comments that seem to blame him for a policy of pairing up rookie police officers on the overnight shift.
Two rookies were working together the night Atatiana Jefferson was killed inside her mother's house.
Speaking to the Star-Telegram, Fitzgerald claims his successor, interim chief Ed Kraus, was questioned for a deposition and acknowledged the policy of teaming up rookies was in place before Fitzgerald became chief.
In a television interview, Price claimed the idea was Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald is demanding the mayor apologize.
