FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - The Fort Worth ISD is adding in-person graduation ceremonies to its virtual ceremonies.
"After speaking last week with student leaders, we decided to add the option of an additional celebration," says Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner.
The in-person ceremonies will be held the week of June 22-26. (Three campuses will hold their in-person ceremonies on Friday, June 19, at the Boulevard Heights Outdoor Facility.)
To ensure social distancing, the ceremonies will be held at the two biggest football stadiums in the district, Farrington Field and Clark Stadium.
The in-person ceremonies are contingent on public health conditions.
"The virtual graduation (on Saturday, June 20) will be the official ceremony," says Dr. Scribner. "The commencement celebration, if conditions allow, will be a voluntary gathering that will give them an opportunity to enjoy seeing each other in person, and share their joy."
Attendance at the in-person ceremonies will be voluntary, and audience sizes will be limited.
