FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price has received her test results for the novel coronavirus.
She got tested after coming into close contact with someone who was later diagnosed with COVID-19.
"My test results came back negative," Mayor Price said during her regular coronavirus briefing Tuesday evening. "While that's a relief, I did find out that another staff member I had been in close contact with...tested positive."
Mayor Price has not shown any symptoms, but will continue to stay in isolation with her husband at home as a precaution.
"I'm going to remain cautions and vigilant. I'll continue to maintain all the precautions and measures that we tell you to do," she said. "I've got a digital and a written log of symptoms, and Tom and I will both continue to record those. Because I said yesterday and I'll say it again: act like you've tested positive and stay home, which is exactly what I'm doing."
Mayor Price is also calling for increased COVID-19 testing in Texas.
"Testing is the key to beginning to clear this virus. I was pleased that Governor Abbott announced the National Guard will help with testing throughout the state, and that will include Fort Worth," she said. "I'm also pleased that Walgreens will launch their rapid drive-through testing on Friday. It will be on Camp Bowie West. They've been a great community partner."
