FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- Dozens of protesters gathered outside two fast food restaurants in East Fort Worth Wednesday evening after racial incidents were recorded at both. The incidents occurred at the Braum's Ice Cream and Whataburger near I-30 and East Loop 820.
Monday evening, Kiemorian McDade went to Braum's with a friend and his four year old son.
"I took my son originally to get ice cream. We decided to sit down and eat," he says.
He says an employee followed him to the parking lot afterward, upset they had left trash on their table.
McDade started recording video of the encounter. The employee uses a racial slur several times.
"I swear to God, I will put that on my life, you will be fired tomorrow. You want to bet?" McDade asks in the video.
Tuesday, Makiya Congious, 19, says she was fired from the Whataburger across I-30 for wearing a face mask with "Black Lives Matter" printed on it. Congious says she was complimented several times but was fired after a single complaint. She recorded video of her manager and says she offered to give two weeks' notice.
"Whataburger doesn't want to get into anything political because we're just hamburgers and fries," the manager says to NBC 5. "You know what? We accept it, and you don't have to come back at all."
Wednesday evening several dozen people held protests outside both restaurants. Many held signs with, "Black Lives Matter" and chanted the phrase.
"I'm not going to be quiet. Not for Whataburger, not for anybody," Congious says.
Braum's says the employee in McDade's case has been fired.
"We are very sorry. The events and language that were used by the former employee are not what Braum's stands for or allowed. The behavior is completely unacceptable," Braum's wrote in a statement.
Whataburger released a statement reading, "Whataburger supports racial equality. This is simply a matter of enforcing our uniform policy. Whataburger employees are provided company-issued masks."
