FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Responding to the Mother's Day shooting that wounded five people in a Fort Worth park, the police department is establishing a violent crime task force.
In a statement released last night, Fort Worth Police officials say the task force will focus on gun use and gang violence.
The statement goes on to say, in the past week, the task force's investigations have resulted in the arrest of 28 gang member and their associates while netting the confiscation of 21 firearms, some body armor and a stolen vehicle.
On Mother's Day, hundreds of people were gathered in Fort Worth's Village Creek Park against Coronavirus social distancing rules, when someone opened fire into the crowd.
