The Fort Worth Zoo is sending a team of employees to Louisiana to help a zoo there that was hit hard by Hurricane Laura.
The team from the Fort Worth Zoo is headed to the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo in Monroe, Louisiana, where it will help repair facilities and remove downed trees and debris.
An additional team is on standby once damage is assessed.
The Fort Worth Zoo is one of several zoos in Texas and surrounding states that comprise the Zoological Disaster Response, Rescue and Recovery Team, which was created in the wake of Hurricane Harvey three years ago.
