DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Fire cut through a complex of condominiums early Wednesday morning in Northeast Dallas, displacing about 90 people.

The fire started about 12:55 a.m. at the Sable Ridge Condominiums on Abrams Road, north of Northwest Highway.

Dallas Fire Rescue says the first crews to arrive saw smoke and fire coming from the first two floors of the three story building. They took a defensive stance and called a second, third and fourth alarm to keep the fire from spreading to other buildings in the complex.

One woman says she was sleeping in her condo with her eight and three year old daughters. She says she woke up to the sound of people screaming outside and alarms going off.

"My door was in flames, so I ran to my room. I grabbed my daughters and threw them out the window," she says. "One of my neighbors punched my window out. He was trying to help me get my children out."

No one was hurt. About 90 firefighters responded, but Dallas Fire Rescue says most of the 30 condos were destroyed.

"I think the saddest part is it's the holidays, right before Christmas," a woman who lives in a neighboring building in the complex said. "These people have lost everything."

Condo owners say another building at the complex was damaged in a separate fire about two years ago. Dallas Fire Rescue is still investigating the cause, but condo owners say the fire appears to have started with a wiring or electrical issue.

The Red Cross has set up a shelter where people can get coffee, make phone calls and make plans on where to stay at Lake Highlands North Recreation Center: 9940 White Rock Trail - Dallas, TX 75238

No one hurt in this 4-alarm fire near NW Hwy/Abrams, but Dallas Fire Rescue says most of the 30 condos are "uninhabitable." One woman says a neighbor broke a window so she could get her 2 daughters out. "I'm numb. It just feels like a bad dream." Hear from her at 5:30 on @KRLD. pic.twitter.com/xEH7g7xwLh
