FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Fort Worth Police are looking for a woman who says she's a wounded military veteran, but she's not.

Kelsie Hoover, 28, is accused of stealing people's identities and claiming to be a military veteran to land jobs.

Hoover's crime spree stretches across the country.

"One of those on her record was a Stolen Valor charge," says Fort Worth Ofc. Buddy Calzada, "where she claimed she had a Purple Heart and was either collecting money or using that identity, that Stolen Valor, to commit fraud."

In one instance, Hoover allegedly posed as a male soldier under the name of "Michael Cipriani."

Hoover was about to be sentenced in Nevada to 20 years in prison for committing fraud by claiming to have a purple heart.

"She actually did not show up for that sentencing phase and has been on the run ever since," says Calzada.

Hoover's trail ultimately led her to Fort Worth.

"She left and came into Fort Worth, met up with another individual, stole a family member's ID from that individual and took a job at a local business here," Calzada says.

As police were closing in on her, Hoover left town.

"She resigned, knowing that we were possibly looking for her, and may have gone to the San Antonio area," says Calzada.

If you have any information, call Fort Worth detectives at 817-392-4467.

"This individual just does not care who they manipulate or what identity she steals in order to get financial gain," Calzada says.
