FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A judge has ruled against a former Fort Worth police chief Joel Fitzgerald.
Fired police chief Joel Fitzgerald had asked for an extension for a temporary injunction that was keeping the city from filling the position, while he fights his civil suit against Fort Worth.
The judge ruled against that motion.
Fitzgerald claims he was fired for reporting city corruption to the FBI and says he was given a dishonarbale discharge, which keeps him from getting a new job.
But the city said it fired Fitzgerald for several reason including a very public confrontation with a union head at a police event in Washington DC.
This ruling allows the city to move forward in hiring a new police chief.
Ed Kraus has been serving as interim police chief since Fitzgerald's firing six months ago.
