FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - The defense team for a convicted capital murderer from Fort Worth is trying to give a jury reasons to spare his life.

Burnches Mitchell, 26, could face the death penalty for the Jan. 27, 2017 capital murder of Krystophir Scott. He was killed during an armed robbery of the Quick Sak store at 898 S. Cherry Lane in White Settlement.

Prosecutors say Mitchell should be put to death because life means nothing to him.

Court filings say Mitchell stabbed another man to death on Aug. 12, 2006. At the time Mitchell was a juvenile and was convined with the Texas Youth Commission for 10-years. He was transferred to adult prison and released on parole in February, 2013.

Prosecutors say Mitchell committed a series of armed robberies between the time he was discharged from parole and the time he was arrested.

The jury is expected to get the case mid-week. The only two options for sentencing are life without the possibility for parole and death.
