DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Starting today, if you’re planning to fly, make sure to pack your face covering.

Today, all major airlines are requiring passengers to wear some kind of face covering while flying in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.

This is the latest of several precautions airlines have taken to flatten the curve.

Last week, Fort Worth-based American Airlines began requiring face masks for team members unable to remain 6 feet away from one another. That includes pilots when they’re not in the cockpit.

Flight attendants have been required to wear masks since the beginning of the month.

The airline is also doing fever checks at a handful of airports, including DFW, and employees get their temperature checked every time they get to work.

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines is taking similar precautions. The airline says it will provide face coverings to passengers who don’t bring their own.
