We have some new information about how a Fort Worth police officer became seriously injured while attempting a traffic stop last weekend.

As Officer Matt Brazeal rolled out the spikes to end a pursuit on the West Loop 820, the driver swerved directly towards him.

Brazeal couldn't get out of the way in time; and the driver, 38-year-old Ronnie Jackson Jr, dragged Brazeal underneath his vehicle until he was able to dislodge.

Police spokesman Jimmy Pollozani says Brazeal will survive, but he has a long road of recovery ahead of him.

Investigators say Jackson acted intentionally and he's charged with attempted capital murder and other charges.
