Man Convicted For 2015 Rowlett Murder-For-Hire Scheme Loses Appeal

Jesus Emmanuel Trevino

ROWLETT (1080 KRLD) - One of the three men involved in a bizarre murder for hire scheme in Rowlett in 2015 has lost big round in a capital murder appeal.

Jesus Emmanuel Trevino was one of three men convicted in the November 2015 shooting death of Laura Grillo.

Grillo was killed in her Rowlett home after dropping a child off at school, eight days before she was to be married. Prosecutors say that was the plan.

Trevino was hired for the murder scheme by Grillo's fiancé, John Makris, who owned a home renovation business where Trevino was an employee.

Records show that Jesus Trevino was convicted of sexual assault of a child in Tarrant County in 2008 and sentenced to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In May of 2010, after serving his sentence, Trevino was deported to his native country of Mexico. After his deportation, Trevino came back into the country illegally and lived in Dallas.

The 5th court of appeals rejected Trevino's claims that testimony and a cell phone expert should not have been allowed to testify.

Trevino is serving a prison term of life without parole.
