FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- A Tarrant County grand jury has indicted a man for the June 22 shooting of a Wautaga police officer.  36-year-old Brian Jacob Moody is charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer, two counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer, and evading police.

A second man, Latoria Iverson, 31, was indicted for tampering with evidence with intent to impair an investigation.

Watauga police say two officers had pulled Moody over for a traffic stop and realized he was driving a stolen car.  They say he took off, running over the foot of one officer, and led police on a chase that ended at Virgil R. Anthony Sr. Park, where he took off on foot.  A short while later he was found.

“He took off running on foot.  As officers chased after him he turned and fired two rounds at the officers striking one officer in the right arm.” said lieutenant Jason Babcock of Wautaga police.  “The round grazed his arm, went into his side, and came out the back.”

Neither of the officers has been identified.  Both went to the hospital and were later released.

The foot chase took place during a driving rainstorm and police lost sight of Moody.  He was found and arrested several days later.
