WYLIE (1080 KRLD) - The family of Kylie Rae Harris has scheduled a memorial for her Wednesday in Plano. Harris died in a crash last Wednesday in New Mexico.The Taos County Sheriff has said speed and alcohol were likely factors in the crash. Results from toxicology tests are not likely for several weeks.Harris had played frequently at Love and War in Texas. Fellow artist Zane Williams was playing there this weekend."You never really know how high someone can go, but I definitely think she had the talent," he says.Williams says Harris would never "in a million years" have wanted to cause a crash that killed someone else."I think the hardest part is thinking about Maria, the 16 year old, whose life was cut short," he says.In an article in People Magazine, Harris' mother said she had dealt with alcohol abuse "on-and-off over the years." Harris, 30, was convicted of drunk driving in Collin Couny in 2017.Betsy Cowan told People, "She had driven 11 or 12 hours that day, and I'm sure that she was exhausted and she was emotionally exhausted. And I think we all know that what that does to you."Through Monday morning, a Go Fund Me page to help Harris' family pay for her funeral and start a college fund for her daughter had raised almost $44,000.
