AUSTIN (1080 KRLD) - A strong showing by combat veteran MJ Hegar put her well in the lead for the Democratic nomination for Senate.
Dallas State Senator Royce West and labor organizer Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez are in a close fight for the runoff against Hegar.
Despite first having to win a May runoff, at her watch party in Austin Hegar focused her attention on Senator Cornyn. "My last message is for you John Cornyn. Your time is done because you've sold us out," said Hegar. "We've given you plenty of time and it's over. You're fired. Pack it up buttercup, cause I'm coming for your seat. Thank you so much."
West and Ramirez both tweeted Tuesday night that the race for second place was too close to call.
Senator John Cornyn cruised to an easy victory in the Republican Primary.
