As an example, Angle hearkens back to Beto O'Rourke's senate campaign in 2018 when he came close to upsetting incumbent Ted Cruz. 


He says one of the benefits was not just that people were excited about the former congressman from El Paso, they got interested in other candidates on the ballot.  "Then they found out that they liked them and they reflected their views and they supported them. That's how we picked up 12 seats in the statehouse last time.  That whole equation becomes much more difficult if a polarizing candidate like Bernie Sanders is our nominee."

Angle notes down-ballot candidates like state representatives, state senators, county commissioners and the like have a bigger impact on a person's day to day life than do national candidates.
