Two of the region's biggest festivals this fall have been canceled because of COVID-19.

Addison's Oktoberfest normally draws thousands of visitors from across the region to enjoy bratwurst, music and dancing in a celebration of German food and culture. Organizers say that out of concern for the health of everyone involved, this year's event has been canceled.

They're planning for the Oktoberfest event to return in September of 2021.

Richardson has canceled the Cottonwood Art Festival, which had been scheduled for October 3rd and 4th.

Richardson City officials say it is impossible to plan for the art show and concert series given the uncertainty surrounding the spread of COVID-19 and restrictions on large gatherings.

Richardson has also canceled the Huffhines Art Trails and Pawtoberfest, which had been scheduled for October 17th and 18th.
