DALLAS (KRLD) - There's a push in North Texas this month to help feed hungry families. The Souper Bowl of Caring starts today and runs through Feb. 2, when the NFL holds its championship game.
"It was started 30 years ago," said Executive Director Alison Reese. "We need to use the energy of the 'big game' to care for our neighbors in need."
Grocery stores across North Texas are making it easy for people to donate to the North Texas Food Bank, either by purchasing pre-packaged groceries or making a cash donation at the checkout counter. Participating stores include Albertsons, Kroger, Market Street and Tom Thumb.
"That will go directly to the store's local food bank...and it will feed those neighbors from that store," Reese said. "No matter where you are in North Texas that product will go directly to people in your neighborhood."
