US News weighed a number of factors to determine the rankings including housing affordability, health care, happiness and taxes.

Dallas-Fort Worth ranked  number 10 on the list largely because of its tax score.

Austin came in 11th on the list and UT was a big factor. A lot of people who retire enjoy continuing their education and universities often offer free or reduced tuition for seniors.
