Amber Guyger
NBC 5

DALLAS (KRLD) - A group of people gathered outside the Crowley Courts Building Wednesday night after the 10-year sentence for former Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger was announced. Some blocked an intersection near the courthouse.

"The community you over-police is bigger than the hate you give," one woman shouted. "You are the reason for this discord."

The group walked downtown and then back to the courthouse. Police from Dallas and several neighboring departments accompanied the group.

"To me, Amber Guyger got a timeout," one demonstrator said.

"The punishment did not fit the action," another said.

Protesters also entered the Dallas County Jail, demanding to see Guyger. Deputies wearing riot gear and carrying shields stopped the crowd.

Dallas police say one person was arrested during the demonstrations.
