ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - The outgoing president of UT Arlington withdrew his candidacy for the top job at the University of Central Florida.

In a letter to the chairwoman of the UCF Board of Trustees, Vistasp Karbhari wrote that personal matters that require his full attention is forcing him to withdraw his candidacy for president of that university.

Last week, in a message posted to UT Arlington's website, Karbhari announced his resignation, effective August 31st, stating that it was time for him and his wife to think about their next chapter.

Weeks earlier, a former university vice president sued him and the school for wrongful termination, seeking more than $200,000.
