Parker County Commissioners Vote To Keep Confederate Statue Outside Courthouse

Parker County Confederate Statue

Parker County Commissioners voted unanimously to keep a statue of a Confederate soldier that is outside the Parker County Courthouse.

The statue has been in Weatherford for over 100 years and is owned by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

The president of the United Daughters of the Confederacy told commissioners, she did not want to see the Confederate statue removed, but would do so if commissioners voted for its removal.

Over the weekend there were rallies and protests over the removal of the statue, some of which lead to violent clashes.
