Judge: Parker County Confederate Statue To Be Relocated After Violent Clash

Parker County Confederate Statue

A Parker County judge says the Confederate statue outside the county courthouse will be relocated after a violent clash over the weekend.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy requested last month that the statue be relocated to prevent it from being defaced or damaged.

Parker County officials delayed any action as it researched who owned the statue.

Judge Pat Deen tells KRLD that the UDC owns the statue and, as such, will be responsible for relocating it at its own expense.

The decision to move the statue comes after protests at the monument turned violent over the weekend.

The Parker County Commissioners Court will be discussing the issue at a special meeting on Thursday.
