The City of Plano has named three finalists to be the city's next Chief of Police. Long-time Police Chief Gregory Rushin was promoted to Deputy City Manager in Plano earlier this year and is leading the city's efforts to find a replacement. The city has also hired an outside search firm to recruit and screen candidates.
Two of the three candidates are from north Texas. Will Johnson is currently the Chief of Police in Arlington. Brian Redburn is an Assistant Chief with the Irving Police Department. One candidate is from outside of Texas. Simon Happer is the Deputy Chief of Police in Overland Park, Kansas.
The three finalists will advance to the next round in the selection process. They will be interviewed by a group of Plano citizens, a group of city leaders and police department officials. They will also meet with the Mayor and members of the City Council.
