DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A Plano police detective, investigating a crime winds up getting into a shooting in south Dallas.
The Plano Detective was in south Dallas as part of a Plano case when he drove up on an accident in the 6500 block of Bonnie View Rd. around 7:00 am Thursday.
According to investigators, what he saw next was a person involved in the accident pull a rifle out of his vehicle. Dallas Police Sergeant Warren Mitchell says that's when the Plano detective tried to step in.
Mitchell said the officer, who was not in uniform, identified himself as a police officer. The man then pointed his rifle at the officer, and that is when he fired.
The suspect was struck in the arm and was later taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The officer was uninjured.
