A man is in custody after crashing a car in downtown Dallas, ending a police chase that began in Kaufman County overnight.
It started around 12:30 a.m. on Highway 80 near Talty. Heading west on Highway 80, the driver hit some stop sticks which blew out two tires.
A second spike punctured a third tire. But he kept going on the rims, hitting speeds of 100-to-120 at times. The suspect merged onto I-30 in east Dallas.
Exiting the freeway downtown, he wound around for awhile before it all ended when the white Lexus crashed into a pole at Main and Akard.
The driver tried to run for it but he didn't get far. Now, he's behind bars on a range of charges.
