DENTON (KRLD) - Denton police released bodycam footage Thursday from the four officers who were on the scene when a University of North Texas student was shot and killed.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of January 21 at the Forum Apartments, near Fort Worth Drive.
In the video, Darius Tarver is seen approching officers with a meat clever and a frying pan when he is taserd. When the taser isn't successful in stopping him, an officer fired one shot at him, knocking him down. Officers then kicked the meat cleaver away out of the reach of Tarver, when he gets up and advanced at an officer with the frying pan. The officer then fires two more shots, killing him.
One officer was stabbed during the incident. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and has since recovered.
