Looking for a new Police Chief, Arlington has narrowed its national search from 74 people down to 24.

Former Chief Will Johnson retired in June.

The application deadline was a couple of weeks ago and since then, two-thirds of the applicants have been eliminated, leaving two dozen to advance to the next round.

Assistant Police Chiefs Jaime Ayala and Kevin Kolbye have been leading the department on an interim basis.

It is known they were in the original pool of 74 applicants but the city is not saying if they have moved on to the round of 24.
