DALLAS (KRLD) - We're learning more about the school shooting Tuesday that took the life of a Houston area high school student on Tuesday.

The two were friends and members of the JROTC program.

Harris County Sheriff's Office Lt. Greg Bartlett says "there were other people in the room when the shooting happened.

Unfortunately, there are only two people who know what really happened and one of them is not able to speak for himself, and the suspect is not cooperating."

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg says she believes the shooting was accidental and she described what happened as reckless.

Bartlett says several people had seen the suspect with the gun that day, but to his knowledge no one reported it. The 16-year-old was found a few hours later, hiding behind a dumpster a couple of blocks away.

The weapon has not been recovered.  He's has been charged with manslaughter
