The remains of a Johnson County volunteer firefighter have been returned from California where she died in a truck accident last week.
Diana Jones was an EMT with the Cresson Volunteer Fire Department. Five years ago, at the age of 58, Jones retired from her job as a hairstylist and started an entirely new career as a firefighter/EMT.
Last week, she was helping fight one of the California wildfires when the truck she was in crashed 15 feet down into a ravine and caught fire.
"Diana Jones was not someone who was interested in just sitting back and letting other people do things," Cresson Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ron Becker said. "In their hour of need, folks from all over the U.S. have gone to assist as best we can, and Diana Jones was one of them."
Yesterday, Jones' remains arrived back home and will be presented for viewers to pay their respects at the Cresson Fire Department training facility until her September 19th funeral at her home congregation, the Granbury Church of Christ.
